Lindeth Howe is a beautiful country house hotel, originally built in 1879. Beatrix Potter once owned the house, and here she wrote and illustrated several of her world-renowned children’s stories, in particular, Timmy Tiptoes in 1911 and Pigling Bland in 1913. Lindeth Howe is set in 6 acres of beautiful gardens and has magnificent views over Lake Windermere. The bedrooms at Lindeth Howe are superior first class in quality: all rooms have ensuite facilities, colour TV with satellite, tea and coffee welcome trays, hair dryer and baby listening facility. The rooms are beautifully appointed, each with its own traditional style. The superior rooms are more spacious and have a trouser press, bathrobes, luxury toiletries and an enhanced welcome tray. Over 80 percent of rooms are non-smoking, including all of the superior rooms. On the ground floor are 3 attractive & spacious rooms for disabled guests, with easy, level access to the lounges, bar, restaurant & leisure areas. Then restaurant has an air of elegance and an excellent reputation. Guests can enjoy a candlelit dinner in an intimate atmosphere. The 5-course dinner menu includes vegetarian options & changes daily. It is non-smoking and the dress code in the evening is `smart casual`. During the day, morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea are served in the relaxing lounges and bar. Especially for children, a high tea is served in the early evening, guests are welcome to relax in the Beatrix Potter Library, the Hill Top Lounge or enjoy the well-stocked bar. There is a well-maintained leisure area with swimming pool (8m x 4m), sauna, solarium and fitness equipment. Lindeth Howe is ideally situated for the Lake District’s attractions: The World of Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth`s Dove Cottage, the Lakes, etc. One of the best ways to explore the lakes is by `Mountain Goat`! Lindeth Howe is pleased to arrange a wide range of tours to suit you, with pick up and drop off at the doorstep of the hotel.
