Getting a cheap airfare
|
·
Travelocity.com
Travelocity is one of the oldest airfare sellers on the web and one of the most respected ones. You can book your flight to go to Europe, or to book an airfare between two european cities.

·Airhitch
Airhitch is like hitchhiking on airplanes. This organization is based on the concept of self-help where they guide you to get a cheap ticket on an airplane taking advantage of last-minute seating availability on commercial jet aircraft, on a "space-available" basis. Airline companies will prefer to sell a cheap ticket rather than leave those seats empty. You must be flexible on your departure and arrival city and you also must be willing to fly any day in a certain period of time.
·Price Line
In this system you bet and set the price for an airfare. If the seat is empty the Airline will sell it cheap to you. Price Line claims that you'll get discounts of at least 40%.
·Qixo
If you don't want to be that flexible but you still want a great low price, then Qixo is what you need. This is a Meta-Search-Engine for Airfares, name the departure and arrival cities and the system will look for the lowest airfare in all Airlines and Travel Sites. Other useful search engines for getting a cheap airfare are: Cheap Flights, Last Minute, Cheap on-line Flights and Last Minute Travel.
·Inexpensive Airlines
There are several inexpensive airlines in Europe, you can find pretty good deals at:
·Air Pass
Europe by Air offers an Air-pass in which you can travel from any city to another for US$99 flat rate. You must purchase at least 3 tickets, and take in consideration that the mentioned airfare is "per-segment". So if your a single flight needs two segments then you pay US$198.
·Travel Agent
It is likely that you might not find a ticket directly from the Airline some months in advance because the Travel Agencies have them all reserved. In many cases you can get a cheap airfare with them because they make large purchases or they use charter flights. Make them a call, you have nothing to loose.
·Frequent Flyer Miles
If you are lucky enough (and you are not a student anymore) your company will require you to travel. You can add miles just by flying or by using corporate alliances of the Airline 's program with partner companies, like credit cards, phone cards or car rentals which will give you miles for very dollar spend.
All programs differ, normally you'll need 40,000 miles for a round trip in low or shoulder season or only 20,000 miles if you pay US$300 for a round trip.
