Train Reservations
Normally with the Europass you do not have to pay any extra money to get in a train; however, you require to buy a supplement for night trains and you require to make (and pay) reservations when you are traveling in a fast train, like: TGV, Pendolino, Thalys, Eurostar, X2000, and highly recommended for ICE and certain InterCity and EuroCity trains. Also, Friday and Sunday evenings and afternoons are peak travel periods, so you might want to consider making a reservation. Also, some long distance trains require them.
Reservations can be done up to 60 days in advance.
Reservation prices can be as follow (these are just examples for you to see how much you could end up paying):
- Seat. Free or $10 - $15
- Sleeperettes Free or $10-$15
- Couchette $30-$50
- Sleepers $90-$200
