The Historic Franklin Hotel opened on June 4th, 1903. The hotel was built in a era when much pride and intergrity went into every detail of the Greek Arhitecture. Our lobby boasts 17 feet high pressed tin ceilings, a hand layed ceramic mosaic floor, the original reception desk and back bar have also been fully restored. The Franklin is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the state of South Dakota. Our Otis elevator is still hand operated by the staff. You can take a ride or splendor yourself for a walk up our grand stairwell which forms a rotunda clear to the fourth floor. All of its interior appointments are in keeping with its classic exterior. The hotel has accommodated such notables as John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Teddy Roosevelt, William Taft, just to mention a few. Our guest list has also included celebrities such as Kevin Costner, Mary Hart, Tom Brokhaw and John Larquette ... So come hang your hat with the famous and let us be your home away from home.
